About the Role
As a Medical Coding professional, you will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes to patient records, diagnoses, and procedures. This role requires attention to detail, analytical skills, and knowledge of medical terminology. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate coding and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign accurate and consistent medical codes to patient records, diagnoses, and procedures
- Review and analyze medical records to identify coding errors or inconsistencies
- Develop and maintain knowledge of medical coding systems, including ICD-10 and CPT
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure compliance with industry standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy and efficiency
- Stay up-to-date with changes in medical coding regulations and guidelines
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Technology, Nursing, or related field
- Knowledge of medical coding systems, including ICD-10 and CPT
- Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and coding software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Certification in medical coding, such as CCS or CPC, is a plus
