Data scientist roles for freshers usually sit closer to data analysis and reporting than headline-grabbing model building — expect SQL queries, dashboarding, exploratory data analysis, and communicating findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, alongside foundational machine learning work. Strong SQL and a genuine comfort with a BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, or even advanced Excel) are asked for almost as often as Python or R, since most fresher-level 'data science' work is really applied analytics. Companies increasingly test candidates on how well they can explain a chart or a finding, not just whether they can produce one. Fresher data scientist and data analyst salaries typically range ₹4–8 LPA at general companies and ₹7–15 LPA at data-first product companies. To stand out, build a small end-to-end analysis (raw dataset to a clear written or visual conclusion) and be ready to defend every choice you made along the way — that's usually the actual interview.
