System Development Engineer, Amazon Payment Products

About the Role
This role involves working as a System Development Engineer in the Amazon Payment Products team, where you'll be responsible for troubleshooting, developing tools, and implementing fixes for production software issues. You'll work on large-scale distributed systems, troubleshoot complex problems, and contribute to the growth and development of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and diagnose production software issues, and implement fixes for internally developed code in Java and Ruby with Rails.
- Develop tools, automation, and monitoring solutions to improve operational excellence and readiness of the systems.
- Provide support for incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks, covering multiple products, features, and services.
- Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects, primarily in Java, Python, or shell scripts, and AWS, web technologies.
- Develop and deploy software in staging and production environments, and create tools to aid operations and maintenance.
- Own and manage one or more digital products or components, and ensure customer notification and workflow coordination and follow-up to maintain service level agreements.
- Collaborate with the support team for handing-off or taking over active support issues, and create a team-specific knowledge base and skill set.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, and Shell Scripts.
- Experience with Linux/Unix and AWS.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
