Applied Scientist, Amazon Core Search

About the Role

As an Applied Scientist at Amazon Core Search, you will be working on improving the shopping experience for customers globally by developing high-precision, high-recall, and low-latency search solutions using NLP, ML, and DL technology.

Your primary focus will be on query understanding, semantic matching, and ranking, ensuring that your solutions work seamlessly across all languages supported by Amazon and are used in all Amazon locales worldwide.

You will collaborate with leaders to develop a strategic vision and long-term plans to improve search globally, while also working on scalable science and engineering solutions that successfully integrate into production.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-precision, high-recall, and low-latency search solutions using NLP, ML, and DL technology.
• Lead efforts in query understanding, semantic matching, and ranking to improve search quality globally.
• Design and implement scalable science and engineering solutions that integrate successfully into production.
• Collaborate with leaders to develop a strategic vision and long-term plans to improve search globally.
• Work on improving search on Amazon using NLP, ML, and DL technology.
• Develop solutions that work for all languages supported by Amazon and are used in all Amazon locales worldwide.
• Implement algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code.

Skills & Qualifications

• Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
• Experience with SQL and an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse.
• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code.
• Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
• Strong understanding of NLP, ML, and DL technology.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
