Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

As an Infrastructure Engineer at Barclays, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the digital landscape of the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll contribute to the development of high-quality infrastructure solutions, automate tasks, and implement security measures to protect against cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems.
• Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Implement security measures to protect infrastructure against cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and other security risks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define IT infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages.
• Stay informed about industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities.
• Develop and maintain high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfill business requirements, ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use.

Skills & Qualifications

• Good knowledge of VMWare Cloud Foundation.
• Experience with ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
• Support patching, upgrades, and firmware activities across the virtualization estate.
• Contribute to automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
• Awareness of monitoring tools such as vRealize Operations or similar platforms.
• Desirable skillsets include exposure to NSX and HCX.
• Awareness of vRealize Automation / Orchestration tool.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 0-0 years of experience in infrastructure engineering or related field.
