Infrastructure Engineer - Mainframe

About the Role

This Infrastructure Engineer - Mainframe role at Barclays will be responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in mainframe technologies, including VSAM, Endevor, CICS, Service Now, and REXX, with a strong understanding of DB2, DB2 PLATINUM, and TWS scheduling tool.

As a key member of the team, you will work closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems.
• Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.
• Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
• Implement a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

Skills & Qualifications

• Expertise in mainframe technologies, including VSAM, Endevor, CICS, Service Now, and REXX.
• Strong understanding of DB2, DB2 PLATINUM, and TWS scheduling tool.
• Experience with JCL Job Control Language, JCL Masking, and JCLPREP.
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and networks.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 0-0 years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
