AI Backend Engineer (Freelance | WFH)

About the Role

As an AI Backend Engineer on BeGig, you'll work on freelance projects focused on building scalable, reliable backend systems that power AI-driven products. Your primary responsibility will be to design and build backend services for AI/ML-powered applications, ensuring they are production-ready and meet the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services for AI/ML-powered applications.
• Develop APIs to serve machine learning and generative AI models.
• Integrate LLMs, vector databases, and inference pipelines into production systems.
• Build data pipelines for model input, output, and feedback loops.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and usage monitoring.
• Deploy and maintain AI services in cloud or hybrid environments.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with backend development (Python, Node.js, Go, or Java).
• Experience building and deploying AI/ML or LLM-backed systems.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, or Express.
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, etc.).
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, async processing, and microservices.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization.
• Knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong focus on reliability, security, and performance.
