Job Description
About the Role
The Digital Democracy Fellow will work closely with Civis product and leadership teams to support the design, execution, and improvement of digital systems that strengthen public participation in laws and policies.
This role involves contributing across product research, data analysis, testing, documentation, implementation support, and internal systems that help Civis scale its work effectively.
The fellow will work on various tasks such as supporting user research, scheduling interviews, documenting conversations, synthesising findings, and identifying recurring product insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Support user research across citizens, institutional users, and partner organisations.
- Schedule interviews, document conversations, synthesise findings, and identify recurring product insights.
- Help maintain user journeys, personas, and problem statements across different Civis workstreams.
- Support recurring analysis of consultation, engagement, and product usage data.
- Build and maintain trackers, dashboards, and internal reporting sheets.
- Contribute to monitoring frameworks and routine reporting.
Skills & Qualifications
- 0–3 years of experience in technology, product, engineering, data, research, consulting, or related roles.
- Engineering background preferred.
- Comfort working with technology products, workflows, and digital systems.
- Some exposure to coding or scripting is required.
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, spreadsheets, or similar analytical / scripting tools is preferred.
- Strong interest in product thinking, public systems, research, and technology-enabled problem-solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable learning new tools and working across research, execution, and analysis.
