About the Role
This Trainee Medical Coder position involves reviewing patient medical records and clinical documentation to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes using standardized coding systems.
The role requires strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology, as well as good analytical and problem-solving skills.
As a Trainee Medical Coder, you will work closely with quality and audit teams to improve coding accuracy and stay updated on coding standards, healthcare regulations, and payer guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records and clinical documentation to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes.
- Maintain productivity and quality targets by meeting deadlines and ensuring accuracy.
- Identify and clarify incomplete or inconsistent clinical documentation when required.
- Stay updated on coding standards, healthcare regulations, and payer guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with quality and audit teams to improve coding accuracy and implement quality improvements.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
Skills & Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing, GNM, M.Sc. Nursing, or equivalent nursing qualification.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to undergo training in medical coding.
