Medical Coding Trainee

About the Role

As a Medical Coding Trainee at Elico Healthcare services, you will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes to patient records, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role involves working closely with healthcare professionals to understand medical procedures and diagnoses, and applying your knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to assign the correct codes. You will also be involved in reviewing and updating patient records to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign medical codes to patient records using CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10CM coding systems
• Review and update patient records to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Work closely with healthcare professionals to understand medical procedures and diagnoses
• Apply knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to assign correct codes
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including HIPAA and ICD10CM guidelines
• Develop and maintain knowledge of medical coding systems, including updates and changes
• Collaborate with other team members to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure accurate coding practices

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, such as health information management or medical records
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10CM coding systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent typing skills, with a minimum of 40 wpm
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Word
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
