SDE Intern

About the Role

As an SDE Intern at FRND, you’ll dive into the core backend stack, building and refining APIs that serve millions of users. Your daily work will involve writing Python code, debugging Django applications, and optimizing database queries to keep the platform responsive.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement new RESTful endpoints in Django, following the team’s coding standards.
• Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers to integrate backend services with user interfaces.
• Write efficient SQL queries and refactor existing database schemas to improve read/write performance.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring quality and maintainability of the codebase.
• Debug production issues, reproduce bugs locally, and propose fixes or performance improvements.
• Document API contracts and update internal wikis for future reference.
• Experiment with caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) to reduce latency for high‑traffic endpoints.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong grasp of Python fundamentals and experience with Django or similar frameworks.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational database design.
• Familiarity with REST API design principles and HTTP status codes.
• Version control experience with Git and understanding of branching workflows.
• Problem‑solving mindset and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Optional: exposure to Java, Docker, or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) is a plus.
