Intern (Bachelor's)
Job Description
About the Role
As a finance intern at Honeywell, you will dive into real-world accounting tasks, from reconciling accounts to preparing financial statements. You’ll work closely with the audit team, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SOX regulations, and support the FP&A cycle by gathering and validating data. Your daily work will blend analytical rigor with practical exposure to enterprise systems like SAP.
Beyond routine bookkeeping, you’ll learn how large multinational corporations structure their financial controls, and how they translate complex data into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in month‑end close activities, including journal entry reviews and account reconciliations.
- Compile and analyze financial statements to identify variances and support management reporting.
- Support SOX compliance audits by preparing control documentation and testing evidence.
- Collaborate with SAP users to extract, clean, and validate large datasets.
- Create and maintain Excel dashboards using PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and macros.
- Participate in process improvement workshops to streamline reporting workflows.
- Draft clear, concise email communications for cross‑functional coordination.
Skills & Qualifications
- Current CA student eligible for industrial training under ICAI guidelines.
- Hands‑on experience with SAP Finance modules (FI/CO).
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance frameworks.
- Advanced Excel proficiency: PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and keyboard shortcuts.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including professional email etiquette.
- Time‑management skills to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Proactive attitude, ethical mindset, and adaptability to dynamic environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic database concepts.
- Desire to learn about process improvement and automation in finance.
What You’ll Learn
During the internship, you’ll gain hands‑on exposure to the full accounting cycle in a global setting, learning how to apply GAAP principles to real data. You’ll also develop a deep understanding of internal controls and audit procedures, which are critical for any finance career. By working with SAP and advanced Excel, you’ll build technical skills that are highly sought after in the industry.
Moreover, you’ll observe how finance teams collaborate with other departments—such as operations, procurement, and IT—to drive business decisions. This cross‑functional insight will broaden your perspective and prepare you for future leadership roles.
Resume Tip
Highlight any SAP or Excel projects you completed in college, including the size of the dataset and the impact of your analysis (e.g., reduced processing time by 20%). Quantify results to showcase your practical contribution.
