About the Role

This internship role at Lilly Tech Internship offers a unique opportunity to work on extending the EDP Database Control Tower, a cutting-edge dashboard built using HTML and JavaScript. As an intern, you will be responsible for developing and tuning Prometheus alert rules and Grafana dashboards to ensure the health and compliance of the Oracle and SQL Server fleet. You will also be working on automating data collection from Oracle fleet endpoints into structured time-series data using Python scripts.

Key Responsibilities

• Extend the EDP Database Control Tower with new telemetry panels and operational layers.
• Develop and tune Prometheus alert rules and Grafana dashboards for Oracle and SQL Server fleet health and SLO compliance.
• Write SQL and PL/SQL queries to extract database KPIs and wire them into the observability pipeline.
• Build Python scripts to automate data collection from Oracle fleet endpoints into structured time-series data.
• Document alert playbooks, KPI definitions, and dashboard design decisions for the DBA operations team.
• Collaborate with the DBA operations team to ensure seamless integration of the extended dashboard.
• Identify areas for improvement in the existing dashboard and propose solutions for enhancement.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong understanding of API, Data Engineering, and Express.js.
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript, Oracle DB, Prometheus, and Python.
• Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL for database querying and manipulation.
• Familiarity with Grafana for data visualization and monitoring.
• Ability to work with large datasets and develop efficient data collection scripts.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing and containerization.
