SDE Intern

About the Role

As an SDE Intern at Overt Minds, you’ll dive into building scalable web services with Java and Spring Boot while simultaneously polishing your front‑end skills in React. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers on real production code, contributing to both back‑end APIs and user‑facing components.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement RESTful endpoints in Java using Spring Boot, ensuring proper validation and error handling.
• Write unit and integration tests with JUnit and Mockito to maintain code quality.
• Develop responsive UI components in React, integrating them with back‑end services.
• Participate in daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, and code reviews following Agile practices.
• Use Git for version control, creating feature branches and submitting pull requests.
• Containerize applications with Docker and push images to a registry.
• Assist in setting up CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or GitHub Actions) for automated builds and deployments.

Skills & Qualifications

• Completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Solid grasp of Java fundamentals, OOP principles, and SQL queries.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar MVC frameworks.
• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience with React.js is a plus.
• Understanding of Git workflow and basic command‑line operations.
• Exposure to Docker, CI/CD concepts, or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset, coupled with good communication skills.

What You’ll Learn

During this internship you’ll gain hands‑on experience with end‑to‑end application development, from designing database schemas to deploying services on cloud infrastructure. You’ll also learn how modern DevOps practices—like containerization and automated pipelines—drive reliability and speed in software delivery.
