About the Role
In this role, you'll be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of businesses and individuals seeking working capital or term loans. This involves analyzing financial statements, assessing risk, and making informed decisions to approve or reject loan applications.
As a Credit Underwriter, you'll work closely with the lending team to ensure that loans are disbursed efficiently and that the company's risk exposure is managed effectively.
Day-to-day tasks will include reviewing financial reports, conducting site visits, and staying up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to assess the creditworthiness of borrowers.
- Conduct site visits to assess the business operations, management, and risk profile of potential borrowers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth loan disbursement and repayment.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and market conditions to ensure that loan decisions are informed and accurate.
- Collaborate with the lending team to develop and implement credit policies and procedures that align with the company's risk management strategy.
- Prepare and present credit reports and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Continuously monitor and review loan portfolios to identify potential risks and opportunities for growth.
Skills & Qualifications
- CA/CMA certification with 0-4 years of experience in credit underwriting, financial analysis, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with borrowers, lenders, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and other financial analysis tools.
- Familiarity with banking regulations and industry standards, including Basel III and IFRS.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of credit scoring models and risk assessment techniques, with the ability to apply them in a practical context.
