QA Intern – Wi-Fi
Job Description
About the Role
As a QA Intern focused on Wi‑Fi, you will spend your days crafting and executing test plans that validate the reliability of our cloud‑managed Wi‑Fi solutions. You’ll work side‑by‑side with senior SDETs to write Python scripts, run regression tests on embedded firmware, and analyze network traffic with tools like Wireshark.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document test cases for Wi‑Fi connectivity, throughput, and security features.
- Automate functional tests using Python and integrate them into CI pipelines (Jenkins).
- Execute regression suites on embedded platforms (RDK‑B, OpenWrt) and capture logs for analysis.
- Capture and decode 802.11 frames, VLAN, NAT, DNS, and DHCP traffic to verify protocol compliance.
- Log defects in the issue tracker, reproduce bugs, and work with developers to confirm fixes.
- Collaborate with network engineers to validate performance metrics against SLA targets.
- Prepare concise test reports and present findings to the QA and product teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
- Basic Python scripting experience from coursework or personal projects.
- Familiarity with networking concepts: 802.11, L2/L3, VLAN, NAT, DNS, DHCP.
- Exposure to CI tools such as Jenkins and API testing with Postman is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset and clear communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for embedded systems and Wi‑Fi technology.
What You’ll Learn
In this internship, you’ll gain hands‑on exposure to end‑to‑end testing of a large‑scale SaaS platform that powers millions of devices. You’ll learn how to translate real‑world network scenarios into automated tests, and how to use industry tools like Wireshark to debug complex connectivity issues. The role also offers insight into how AI and machine learning can be leveraged to optimize network performance, giving you a unique blend of software QA and data‑driven network engineering skills.
Resume Tip
Include a short Python script or a GitHub link that demonstrates your ability to automate a simple network test (e.g., ping a range of IPs and log latency). Highlight the script’s purpose, the libraries used, and the results you observed. This concrete example shows recruiters you can translate theory into practice, a key requirement for this role.
