It's a process-driven role where companies value consistency and accuracy over creativity, and larger companies or GCCs (Global Capability Centres) often run this as a specialized function separate from general accounting, sometimes at meaningful scale (hundreds of invoices monthly). Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) is a genuine advantage if you've had any exposure during internships or coursework, since many companies specifically hire for tool familiarity at this level. Fresher AP executive salaries typically range ₹2.5–4.5 LPA, trending notably higher at GCCs and larger multinational finance shared-service centers.
