Data Product Owner

About the Role

This Data Product Owner role is a key position in an existing data product team at U.S. Bancorp India, supporting the delivery of data products in PL/SQL and MSSQL, with a future focus on Databricks.

The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, particularly in data transformation, and be proficient in modern data engineering tools such as Databricks, PySpark, and AWS S3.

Additionally, the role requires a solid understanding of the banking domain, including concepts like Average Daily Balancing math, General Ledger structure, and COBOL legacy deconstruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize data product requirements.
• Develop and maintain data product documentation, including data dictionaries and technical specifications.
• Work with data engineers to design and implement data pipelines, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Participate in data transformation problem-solving, using tools like Databricks and PySpark.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of data products, using techniques like dynamic SQL and partitioned tables.
• Debug transformation issues and validate data results, using tools like SQL Server and AWS S3.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying knowledge to improve data products and processes.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in data transformation.
• Proficiency in modern data engineering tools, including Databricks, PySpark, and AWS S3.
• Experience with dynamic SQL, partitioned tables, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of the banking domain, including concepts like Average Daily Balancing math and General Ledger structure.
• COBOL literacy and experience with legacy mainframe programs.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
• Certifications in data engineering, data science, or a related field (optional).
