About the Role

A DevOps Engineer at Virtusa plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between software development and operations teams. Day-to-day, this role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and tools that enable smooth deployment, scaling, and monitoring of software applications.

This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including development, QA, and operations, to ensure that software releases are efficient, reliable, and meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to ensure consistency and repeatability in infrastructure provisioning.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot application performance using metrics and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate repetitive tasks, such as data backups, security patches, or compliance checks.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 availability of critical systems and applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements to existing infrastructure and processes.
  • Document infrastructure and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
  • Understanding of monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
  • Certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) are a plus.
